1996 - Arlington, New Jersey
I never thought I would be one of these people reporting a sighting,
I usually don't believe any of this, until now. I am an electrical
engineering student, 23 years old.
My parents recently moved to florida from our house in North
Arlington, NJ. On March 21, 1996 my uncle was over helping us move some
stuff and taking some things we were leaving behind. He was just
leaving, at approximately 9pm or so. There was supposed to be a meteor
that was visible by eye on that night and a couple others (im not sure of
the details, i dont really follow that stuff). Anyway, my father and
uncle are in the front of the house looking up in the sky for the meteor,
I was standing on the front porch busting them, that they didnt even know
what direction they should be looking in. I wasn't really interested but
after they had pointed to almost every star thinking it was the comet, I
had to go take a look to see if I could see it or make more fun of them.
After not knowing if they saw it or not my uncle walked up the hill to
get in his car (Locust Ave.). I was looking up, it was a full moon or
close to it that night and pretty clear (lots of stars). All of a sudden
I see this thing. It was only visible because of the light shining above
it from the moon. There were no lights on it and if the moon hadnt been
so bright I never would have seen it. It was low, lower than the clouds
or just about as high as them. It was like a big triangle, but from the
point on the front of it, each outer side curved in. There were
absoluetly no lights on it at all. As I saw it, my mouth just dropped
and I screamed LOOK! my father caught sight of it too and just went...Oh
my god! My cousin, about age 15 also saw it, my uncle was too late
running back to where we were. It was bigger than a plane and flying
lower than any I've ever seen. And there was a plane in the sky at the
same time as it, so I was able to compare it quite well. It was
definitly not a normal airplane. It didnt make any noise and we only saw
it for about 25-30 seconds until it disappeared (couldnt tell if it went
into the clouds, or just wasnt under the light of the moon enough to see
it anymore.) I've never ever seen anything I couldnt identify. It was
incredible. I thought of calling up some UFO thing, but didnt know who
to call or how to find it. I know what a weather balloon would look like
and what airplanes/helicopters look like, etc, this was definitly not any
of them. I didnt see any little green men or any of the other weird
things I still dont believe (I don;t think i believe anyway). But it was
incredible. If anyone has ever seen anything like this please mail me,
id love to compare what you saw. I searched through some of the pictures
here, but it didnt really look like any of them. There was no light, it
was basically just gray, the sky looked black and the object looked
gray...like a shadow, with the light of the moon above it.
